A little help.
A better next take.

Setup guidance, answers, and a way to reach the people behind Chapterframe.

Start with the essentials.

What do I need to run Chapterframe for Mac?

The current native build targets Apple silicon and macOS 15 or later, with built-in SQLite storage. Generation uses your own provider accounts and API keys. Video generation needs a compatible render server. See the full Mac requirements.

How do I set up my local library?

Chapterframe for Mac uses built-in SQLite for its local library. No database server installation is needed. Choose your media folder in Settings → Engine & Storage, then click Start Engine.

Moving from an older Mac version? Open Local Library & Previous Mac Import in the app. Keep your existing media folder and library name, quit the older app, and leave its local MongoDB service running for the one-time import into an empty SQLite library. You can also import chapter ZIPs exported by the web app.

How do I bring a project into the Mac app?

Use Import Chapter to open a Chapterframe ZIP, or Add Chapter to save your source text and audio. Prepared chapter ZIPs include the selected media snapshot. Native script generation is not yet available, so creating a new chapter does not automatically produce a take breakdown.

Where do I enter provider API keys?

Open Settings → Connections in the Mac app. The native app stores provider credentials in macOS Keychain. Keep your keys out of support messages, screenshots, and exported logs.

A render disconnected. Should I submit it again?

Check its saved job status first. Known jobs can resume polling after the engine reconnects. If the submission outcome is uncertain, verify it on the renderer before starting another paid request. Closing the app does not necessarily stop a remote render or GPU rental.

How do I stop paying for a rented GPU?

Review your instances in server management and in your GPU provider account. Stopping the Mac app or pausing a queue does not end the rental. Storage and other provider fees may continue after compute stops.

How do I back up or remove my work?

A chapter ZIP transfers a snapshot, not every historical asset. Back up both your local database and media folder for a full library backup. See Your data & choices for storage and deletion guidance.

Where is the web edition?

The public web edition is coming soon. The web page describes its wider workflow and availability.
